Day one of Handmade 365…

…and it’s as good a place as any to start a new blog. Cheers to Rachelle of www.tedandagnes.co.uk for the handmade 365 idea 🙂

I made this pencil skirt out of a stretch woven fabric I got from Fabworks in Dewsbury. Fabworks is pretty great but it’s one of those places you have to go to often as stock changes all the time – I’ll get some photos next time I go as the ones on their website don’t really do it justice.

I went with Lisa, the quilt queen, who got some cotton prints but I pounced on this pink stuff even though pink is not my usual colour. I am finding it increasingly difficult to find stretch wovens (please let me know if you know of any) so I overlooked the fact that it’s basically neon, and I’m glad I did! I get compliments every time I wear it.

The pattern is by Donna Karan, V1282, and was very very straightforward – a good one for beginners. I skipped the part where you bind all the inside edges because I overlocked all my panels beforehand and also because, you know, life is too short.
